The power of prayer is something that's true
For it has been proved that when you don't know what to do
When you are in trouble, or a loved one is hurt
Pray to the Lord, and your prayer will be heard
Her mom was in the hospital for a sickness unknown
She'd sit by the bedside, praying that Mom would get home
She'd hold her mother's hand, tears falling on the sheets
"Lord, please don't take my mom away from me"
Her mom got worse, and the prayers grew stronger
She grew closer to God, and for His word she did hunger
Then one fateful day, her mother sat up in bed
The doctors announced that she would be okay and she said,
"Lord, thank you for healing my mama today
I know you'll always be there when I stray
The love that you show me and the way you answer my prayer
Shows me that you will always be there"
The power of prayer is something that's true
But sometimes things don't turn out the way you want them to
You've got to realize that you're in God's plan
You need to accept that you're in His hands
His girlfriend had been in a bad wreck
Had come out barely alive; she'd broken her neck
Every day, he would go see her in the hospital
But then came the news so sad and so bitter
His girl had passed away, her life was now over
She shouldn't have drunk, she should have been sober
But her boyfriend had prayed for her health every day
Why hadn't things turned out okay?
He realized that hurting is a part of life
And tears and trouble, and hurting and strife
And even though things seem so bad
God loves us all, and he has a plan
The power of prayer is something that's true
Sometimes the answers take a long time to come through
You've got to trust that He'll take care of your needs
Even when it seems He doesn't hear your pleas
A brother and sister, in foster homes
They hated the feeling, they wanted to belong
They prayed every night, in each new house
They kept talking to God, and waited it out
Months passed and seasons faded
All the while they anticipated
Why hadn't God answered their prayer?
Didn't He care that they didn't want to be there?
One bright summer day, they went to a new family
They felt right at home, and wanted to stay
The mother and father told them with a smile
That they would be living with them for a very long while
The power of prayer is something that's true
No matter if your answer comes instantly to you
Or whether your problem doesn't seem to matter at all
Or if it takes a long time for blessings to fall
So pray every day, and divulge in God's word
Don't give up, and don't be deterred
He loves you, and wants only what's best
Continue to have faith, and forget all the rest
